A busy North Devon road will be closed on week days for three weeks to make way for a £400,000 reconstruction scheme.

Devon County Council said two kilometres of the A399 between Stowford Cross and Four Ways Cross would be closed Monday to Friday from February 13.

Traffic from the North Devon Link Road will be diverted at Aller Cross through Barnstaple to Blackmoor Gate and vice versa.

A number of bus services will be affected by the work and a shuttle service will be provided between Bratton Fleming and Barnstaple.

The road should be open to through traffic at weekends.

The scheme will be undertaken by Tarmac on behalf of Devon County Council.
