A DEVON woman has won an award worth thousands of pounds for remote workers.

Abbe Martin, from Dunsford, near Exeter, won a home-based franchise worth £15,000 from The Remote Worker Awards, in association with BT Business.

She was one of two people who won the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy Award and her prize will enable her to run a drama academy from her home.

Entrants with an interest or an enthusiasm for social interaction and communication with young people were asked to show how they would combine their love of drama or their experience teaching children.

Abbe said: "I am extremely lucky and it is like winning the lottery! This is the start of something big for me and I am so overwhelmed to be a part of the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy. This has all happened so quickly and feels completely beyond me.

"I never thought I would get this far and I feel so lucky that I have been given this chance. I intend to put every effort into making this work. Feeling as good as I do right now I believe anything is possible."
