Annual show for ploughing association
FARMERS from across Torridge united in Newton St Petrock for the Bradworthy and District Ploughing Association's annual show.
The event, which also includes a produce show, was held at Cleave Farm on Friday, September 11, thanks to the Poole Family.
Tractors and ploughs travelled from all over Devon and Cornwall to compete at this year's competition, with Mr D Harvey of Newton Abbot taking the cup for the best piece of ploughing on the day.
The local champion was Simon Yelland of Holsworthy Beacon. And Simon and Richard Beckly won the Young Farmers team-ploughing competition for Bradworthy YFC.
Two new ploughing trophies were presented for the first time this year and were both won by Edward Brown of Muffworthy. They were given by Dave Edgcombe of Advance Tyres Holsworthy and Robert Cole Agricultural Engineers.
Bob Bentham won best exhibit in the produce section with his runner beans, while Ivor Prouse won the cup for most points.
The Challenge cup for most points in the produce section by a YFC member was won by Rachael Poole of Bradworthy YFC.
Organisers thanked everyone who helped make the day such a success.
