THE APPLEDORE Book Festival has linked up with thisisnorthdevon.co.uk to show on-line footage of interviews with some of the celebrities that appeared at this year's event.

Most of the celebrities were interviewed before their event by students on work experience and fimed in high definition by former BBC cameraman Tony Koorlander who has edited the highlights. There is also footage from some of the authors' actual stage presentations at the festival.

The idea is to give a taster of what the festival was like for those who were unable to get to the event.

Those on film include former children's laureate Michael Morpugo, ex MP and BBC newsman Martin Bell and actor-writer Julian Fellowes.

The first to go on-line will be BBC Spotlight reporter Simon Hall, Inspector Morse creator Colin Dexter and explorer Col John Blashford-Snell.

Tony said: "From the outset I was pleasantly amazed by the informative and friendly chats with all of the authors. They were delightful people to work with, all fascinating to listen to, and full of such interesting stories and perspectives. I can see why they write such excellent books — they all loved Appledore!

"The whole event was an eye opener for me, with an enormous sense of family and camaraderie that I haven't experienced since my days in BBC TV News. Martin Bell brought a few of those memories flooding back as well. A truly incredible event and all thanks to the insight and tenacity of the organisers. It was a privilege to be part of it, and I hope that my part in capturing it on video, will allow those who weren't there to get a feel for the event, and come along next year."
