Assumption quite sexist
WHEN writing about police commissioners, one of your correspondents makes the assumption that the eventual incumbent will be a "he".
This would seem rather sexist when one of the candidates standing for Devon and Cornwall is not only a woman but an extremely well qualified one.
Nicky Williams is a social policy graduate who studied criminology. She is a member of the Children's Safeguarding Board, leads Youth Offending Services, and sits on the board of Plymouth Community Homes. She is also a senior Labour Cabinet councillor in Plymouth.
It is perhaps unfortunate that politics has entered into this election but with Nicky Williams there is no question about her political affiliations.

We should beware of wolves in sheep's clothing, that is those standing as Independents who are really Liberal Democrats.
