BNP chooses ex-fireman to contest North Devon seat
A FORMER firefighter is to stand as the British National Party candidate for North Devon at the general election.
The BNP today named 51-year-old Ilfracombe resident Gary Marshall as its candidate.

Gary Marshall
Mr Marshall, who also served in the RAF, said: "As well as concentrating on issues that matter to the people of North Devon locally I will be strongly campaigning for the immediate withdrawal of our brave troops in Afghanistan."
The Journal requested an interview with Mr Marshall, but was told it was BNP policy that candidates were not to talk to the media.

“Whats worse than being represented by the BNP? Being represented by Joanne Bell and the New Wave Independant Party. (sorry its not meant to be a joke its the truth ask the residents of Fremington)”

“The BNP candidate had better hope that the New Wave Independant Party don't bring Joanne Bell out of retirement because she is a match for anyone when there's publicity to be gained. But dont worry if she got elected she would resign after one meeting with illness. Sorry Joanne am I touching a raw nerve?”

“Good luck Gary, you will have my vote.
Ignore those who jump on the anti-BNP bandwaggon without knowing much about them.”

“Ex-fire fighter and ex-RAF.
Obviously Mr Marshall likes uniforms, very appropriate for a bnp candidate.”

“Now I am absolutely 100% convinced this man did not serve in the RAF. Why do I say that? Time and time again he has been asked the question: what did you do in the RAF? Where did you serve, and when? He refuses to answer. Saying you were a firefighter in Lancashire does not answer that question; it's a big county. Where in Lancashire? Retained or full-time? How long in service? If you use this information in your electioneering we are entitled to quiz you on it. When you don't answer you look evasive and untrustworthy. Will you answer the questions in this message? I take you are not too thick to understand them. Apologies if that's the case.”

“I see Gary Marshall has still not answered the question posed a number of times by John Bull and Al Green and others. I quote Mr Green: "I'm extremely suspicious about why this candidate refuses to answer simple questions about his alleged time in the RAF and fire service. He has used this experience in his own PR, so is open to questions on it. What did you do in the RAF and where? Same with fire service. If you do not respond I will assume you are lying or have something to hide. A candidate's history is relevant if they want to be our MP." As the Journal has not yet found this out, will Mr Marshall answer the question or will he keep avoiding it , making us all think he has something to hide? What's the big secret? You're standing to be an MP. Answer the question. Ahmed Smith, North Devon

Thank you for your comment.
If you had read last weeks journal you would see that their reporter has already said "ex Lancashire firefighter".”
