RAMRAIDERS used a stolen forklift truck during a daring smash-and-grab raid on a bank in a North Devon market town.

The robbers smashed into the Natwest bank in Bridge Street, Hatherleigh, at 3.15am on Saturday, police said.

It was not yet known how much money was stolen.

Police said: "A stolen red Manitou forklift vehicle was used to penetrate the building and then pull the ATM from the wall in order to gain access to it.

"The offenders made off from the scene in an unknown vehicle.

"There were possibly three males involved who were dressed in reflective clothing and may have been wearing hard hats."

The Manitou was stolen from the Bideford area some time between Thursday evening and early Friday morning.

Builders were busy ensuring the bank was safe on Saturday afternoon and scaffolding was being put in place.

Police are appealing for witness who might have seen the forklift or anyone acting suspiciously near the bank in recent weeks.

“Well I doubt they would want to be having to fill it up everyday, given the paper work involved and the inconvience, I think it is more of a case of when they last uploaded it and when it got done over.”

“A lot of effort to steal it, well with a potential of up to average 100,000K payoff it's all

in a days work, beats slogging 50 years of your life to work right up to death doors and to

give half your income to the greedy pigs gov/councils, to then just pay a death tax on your

death, come on peeps, work it out. It's not wrong, its common sense! Only those that have

reigns on you want you to belieive its wrong because it doesn't fit their ideolgy of control

and cashing in from your life time of slavery at the behest of *THEIR* realm.”

“I see that Hatherleigh has a new "hole in the wall" at its Nat West Bank.
Nat West have been stealing from me for years so I say well done to the tea leaves.
knowing Nat West, they will try to claim for all damages from the legal owner of the fork lift truck through his insurance!”
