Without a manager after Dave Griffiths resigned following the 7-0 defeat at Bishop Sutton on Saturday, they had Chris Jones in temporary charge.
And the caretaker manager got off to a fine start when Danny Jenkins fired Barnstaple ahead after only three minutes.

The lead did not last long however, Wright scoring twice to put Buckland 2-1 up at the break, then creating the third for Gavin Hammon on 59 minutes.
Any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Liam Dart, the home defender, was sent off a minute later for a second yellow card.
Anthony Lynch, Simon Revell and Wright completed the scoring for the visitors.
Barnstaple are at home again on Saturday when Wells City come to Mill Road.
