Griffiths came to the club's aid by taking over as manager in July after the resignation of Pete Buckingham.

Buckingham had been appointed after Owen Pickard stepped aside at the end of last season but quit before a match had been played.

Griffiths, who had been a physio and coach under Pickard, had to cope with a negligible budget and at times struggled to put a full team together.

Warren Crossley, Barnstaple's new chairman, said: "Our thanks to Dave for carrying out the role as manager in such testing circumstances and we wish him all the very best."

Applications for the post of manager should be made in writing to the club at Mill Road, Barnstaple, EX31 1JQ, by Friday, November 30.

Barnstaple's next fixture is at home against Buckland Athletic on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

“Surely its time for Barum to move to a more local league ?

It can't be any good losing every week in a Bristol based league”

“We know he is doing this as he is widely seen as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor, while José Mourinho is set for a return to English football by taking the vacant manager's post at Barnstaple Town.”
