BARNSTAPLE TOWN suffered a double whammy for Jamie Frickleton's late handball at Longwell Green Sports.

The Town centre-back denied the home side a 78th-minute goal when he stopped a shot with his hands.

Frickleton was sent off and Chris Dauncey converted the resulting penalty to give Longwell Green a 1-0 win.

Dauncey's spot-kick ended a run of seven games without a win for his mid-table side, stretching back to their 2-1 victory over Bideford on February 6.

For Barnstaple, it was a second 1-0 away defeat in a week following Tuesday night's reverse at Bristol Manor Farm.

Defeats for all the teams below them mean Town remain 15th in the Toolstation Premier Division table, five points above the relegation zone.

Next Saturday, Barnstaple host Calne Town in an important match at Mill Road.
