He was taken to North Devon District Hospital by ambulance as a precaution, but is thought to have escaped unharmed.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed he had been reported for driving without due care and attention by officers at the scene. This means a file will be submitted by police to CPS for consideration for prosecution.

The road was completely blocked and had to be closed for just over two hours while the vehicle was removed from the middle of the road.

The incident was cleared by 3.05pm.

“Here's the definitive answer from Devon and Cornwall police press office: "When someone is reported for an offence they are not arrested but a file is then submitted for consideration by CPS for prosecution at court."”

“What do they mean by "reported"? Is it the same as being arrested? Or does it mean members of the public reported him to the police?”
