PUT together Kafka's nightmare vision, Berkoff's crackling script and Blackeyed Theatre's trademark physical theatre, and you should have an inspiring and unforgettable piece of drama to kick off the theatre season at North Devon Theatres.
Black comedy, The Trial, premieres in Barnstaple for two nights this January.
"We are thrilled to be opening a national tour with North Devon Theatres," said Adrian McDougall, artistic director of Blackeyed Theatre.
"The Trial is a brilliantly dark, funny piece of theatre, furthering our aim to take quality shows by today's greatest writers to theatres across the UK.
"It is imperative that mid-scale touring theatre like this continues to be seen outside London, and North Devon Theatres – through their studio@QT programme – is a brilliant example of an arts organisation making it happen."
The Trial, adapted from the novel by Franz Kafka by Stephen Berkoff, focuses on Joseph K, an estranged citizen who finds himself the victim of anonymous governing forces beyond his control.
It promises to be a shocking, thrilling and funny production.
Blackeyed Theatre has produced the play in association with North Devon Theatres and South Hill Park. Tickets: £13.50 (full), £12.50 (concession), £8.50 (North Devon Theatre friends). Box office: 01271 324242.
