BIDEFORD under-15s scored two tries in each half to beat Exeter 20-17.

Both sides took time to settle in to their first game of the year but Bideford applied more pressure and led 10-0 at half time through two tries by Harry 'Baz' Jones.

Exeter came out with more urgency in the second half and capitalised on Bideford's handling errors by scoring two tries, one converted, to lead 12-10 with 15 minutes remaining.

Bideford regrouped and Seb Sanders made a good break before offloading for Reece Pearn to race over in the corner.

Sean Pett then picked up a loose ball just outside the Exeter 22 and showed determination and pace to score out wide.

Exeter hit back with an unconverted try but it was not enough to deny Bideford.

Bideford enjoyed a 58-0 home win against Torrington in the Devon Under-14 Plate.

Jack Willes, Sam Musselwhite, Daniel Morris, Mark Withecombe, Ollie Constable and Kai Abbott scored tries.

Barnstaple ran out 44-0 winners at South Molton.

The sides looked evenly matched over the opening minutes but once Ed May had run in the first try the Barum backs came alive.

James Bellew scored a hat-trick of tries and captain Ozzie Carter-Burns burst through to score. With two conversions by Tom Squire, Barum led 29-0 at half time.

South Molton were spirited in the second half but Barnstaple were not done and Bellew, Danny Southworth and Olly Hughes scored tries.

Jono Slee was named man of the match for his tackling and support play.

After an eight-week layoff, Barnstaple under-13s returned to action with a 27-17 defeat to Kingsbridge. Alfie May, Flynn Elworthy and Ross Swales crossed for Barum, with Stan Wilks converting one.
