Bideford well beaten by Gosport Borough
?GOSPORT BOROUGH proved too strong for Bideford with a 4-1 win in the Zamaretto Southern League.
A second-half penalty from Jamie Mudge, his fourth goal in five games, was all the Robins had to take from their longest away trip of the season.
Without Dominic Rivans, still recovering from a facial injury suffered in Monday's defeat to Taunton Town, Nick Barker played in central defence alongside Darren Hawkings and Paul Kendall. Matt Andrew dropped to the bench, while Kevin Squire came in for his first start of the season.
It was a tough afternoon for the Bideford backline as Paul Cox scored twice either side of half time.
Mudge pulled one back on 69 minutes after Squire was pushed by Peter Castle.
Ex-Tottenham player Ian Jones made it 3-1 when he rifled past Matt Armstrong-Ford, and Justin Bennett completed a convincing win by sidefooting the fourth from close range with ten minutes to go.
Bideford: Matt Armstrong-Ford, Sean Downing, Ben Wood, Darren Hawkings, Paul Kendall, Nick Barker, Matt Bye, Matt Hockley, Ellis Laight, Kevin Squire, Jamie Mudge. Subs: Matt Andrew, Nick Milton, Karl Baker, Raiff Gwinnett.
