A SLICK display from Ricky Dymond proved too much for Devonport's Kyle Gargett in Plymouth.

Bideford ABC's Dymond won convincingly on points against an opponent who beat him in May last year.

Dymond will start his quest for national honours in the NACYP Championships later this month.

Fast-improving Ryan Gumbley claimed his third straight win, beating Zac Jordan, of Devonport, at the Brickfields show. It was all level going into the final round when the Bideford boxer's fitness helped him to a points victory.

Bideford super heavyweight Ben Short and Brandon Bull, of Tylorstown ABC in Wales, were given a standing ovation after three thrilling rounds.

Two of the judges declared the bout a draw and the third gave it to Bull by a single point.

Bideford newcomer Kye Cook, 11, showed his potential against Danny Quinn, of Plymouth's Intense Boxing, who took the victory with a tight points decision.

Bideford host their annual dinner show at the Durrant House Hotel on November 23.

Bill Stanbury was named best junior and most dedicated boxer in Combe Martin ABC's annual awards.

Tommy Herd received the prize for best senior boxer.

Jack Taylor has been named club captain for 2012-13.

Combe Martin's top boxers will return to action on October 20 with a show at the village hall which will also host the first round of the Senior ABA Novice Championships.

Stanbury is set for his first senior bout, an all-North Devon clash with Jake Langdon, of Bideford ABC.

Former British and Commonwealth middleweight champion Scott Dann is the guest of honour. Tickets will be available on the door.
