Bideford bring in St Blazey's George Swain and Lewis Coombes for cup tie

ST BLAZEY players George Swain and Lewis Coombes are in line to play for Bideford in tonight's Devon St Luke's Cup tie at Elburton Villa. 

Bideford manager Sean Joyce will use the second-round tie to look at fringe players and potential signings.

Swain, a midfielder, and Coombes, a striker, both played for Barnstaple Town in the Toolstation Western League last season.  

The substitutes from Saturday's 2-1 defeat against Banbury United in the Evo-Stik League Southern – Paul Hider, Connor Clifford, Ellis Laight, Nick Barker and James Richards – are all expected to start.

Bideford won the cup in 2010 against Exeter City when Joyce used the competition to blood younger players. 

"It gives you a chance to look at players in proper games," he said. 

"I want to keep everybody ticking over. 

"You never waste a game because you get to look at players."

Elburton, from Plymouth, are fifth in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League premier division.
