Bideford's impressive four-match Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division home run was ended by a 2-1 Banbury United win at the Sports Ground.

Despite managing to stage a game as the rest of the region's non-League programme suffered scores of postponements, the Robins were undone by goals from Marvin Martin and Wayne Blossom.

Martin opened the scoring on 30 minutes, firing past debutant Tim Sandercombe, the former Truro City goalkeeper.

Sandercombe denied Martin later and Ryan Plowright but could not stop Blossom from doubling the visitors' advantage on the hour, when beaten by an exquisite chip.

Sandercombe then did well to deny substitute Chris Lait as Banbury tried to extend their lead on a counter-attack.

Bideford's late pressure was rewarded when Matt Andrew scored in the last minute.

Sean Joyce will rally his Robins for tomorrow's weather-delayed Devon St Luke's Cup tie away to Plymouth side Elburton Villa.

Torrential rain caused the postponement of two Premier Division matches and a further five in Division One South and West of the Southern League, including Tiverton Town's trip to Yate Town and Taunton Town's home game against Shortwood United.

Taunton are due to visit Didcot tomorrow, weather permitting, while Tiverton's next scheduled League match is at home to North Leigh next Saturday.

Only one game survived in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, with Barnstaple Town – now managed by new boss Tom Bulley – well beaten 6-2 by Brislington in a bottom-versus-top clash at Mill Road.

All but three Western League First Division games were postponed.
