Bideford win county clash
SNOOKER
BIDEFORD are through to the semi-finals of the Bilby Cup.
A workmanlike performance earned a 4-1 win over Barnstaple at Bideford Liberal Club on Saturday.
They now join Exeter A, Tiverton and Torbay C in the last four of the county competition.
Out-of-sorts captain Nick Kenny lost the opening frame on the black to Barnstaple's Kevin Bastable.
Steady Gary Tubbs, aided by a 30 break, defeated James Middlemass to level the tie.
Lee Halling won the pivotal third frame against Paul Standen, laying a crucial snooker that brought a frame-changing 20 points.
David Gayton defeated Barnstaple captain Darren Horsman on the back before class Shez Tetley produced a 48 break to beat Steve Coles.
Bideford's sixth and seventh players – Kevin Fishleigh and Jake Frank – were not required.
