AFTER waiting 11 weeks to play a league fixture, Boca Seniors were made to hold on another 85 minutes to snatch a crucial goal.

Mark Barrow finally popped up from midfield to break the deadlock and secure a 1-0 win in the derby against Barnstaple AAC.

Until then, the premier division champions had found the home defence and goalkeeper Oliver Rigler in unbeatable form. Content to soak up the pressure and play on the break, the Ammies worked tirelessly and created one opening themselves when Aaron Yeo shot narrowly wide.

The back four, marshalled superbly by Andrew Davie, refused to be beaten until Barrow finally found space to grab his ninth goal of the season.

Boca lacked sharpness after the Christmas break and manager Darren Todd was just grateful to get over the winning line.

"There were some unfit players out there," he said. "Our strikers are not the best at the moment and Ollie Rigler made some great saves."

Boca now head into a key stage of the season, starting with a trip to unbeaten North Molton on Saturday.
