Bronze medal for gardener Lauren
A GARDENER from North Devon has won a bronze medal at a prestigious national gardening show.
Lauren Davis, 31, who lives in Pilton with daughter Emily and partner Joss Benyon, was given the medal for her entry in the BBC Gardeners' World Live in Birmingham.
Her creation, Calm and Centred, uses edible plants such as cabbages and carrots and plants loaned from St John's Garden Centre.
Miss Davis was among three winners selected nationally to display her own garden design at the show.
She received £5,000 to build a 25sq m garden which was showcased at the Grow Your Own area of the show.
Miss Davis said: "We are thrilled to have won an award at our first RHS show. It was incredibly hard work but worth it when we heard all the positive comments from the public."
Miss Davis, who moved to North Devon in July last year, formerly worked as a gardener and also has an honours degree and post graduate diploma in landscape architecture.
