BARNSTAPLE Buccaneers have beaten Spanish second division champions Campo Gibraltar.

With no pitches on the rock, Barum's only game of their Gibraltar tour was played at Sotogrande in Spain.

Buccaneers ran out 23-12 winners in a match refereed by former Argentina fly-half Hugo Porta. Barnstaple went behind early before scoring tries through debutant James Owen, Tom Ball and Andy Tyers, all converted by Russell Jones. A drop goal by Phillip Gordon-Sherborne sealed the game.

Former Buccaneers player Paul Newman, now posted in Gibraltar with the navy, scored for Campo Gibraltar.
