Bude hold Bideford to a draw in Western Counties derby
A DOGGED defensive effort saw Bude draw 5-5 at Bideford.
The home side dominated possession and were superior in the scrums but it took them more than an hour to find a way through the visitors' defensive line.

Both sides had a chance to win the game in the final few minutes but Stefan James, for Bideford, and Dan Pearce, of Bude, put penalty kicks wide.
Having beaten leaders St Austell last month, it was a second impressive result for Bude against one of the heavyweights in Tribute Western Counties (west).

Bideford did well to get the game on as parts of the King George's Field pitch were under water this morning. It was a mudbath, but the players still served up an interesting contest.
Bude withstood some early pressure to take the lead on 25 minutes when they played out a training-ground move from a free kick and Pearce, the fly half, set up wing Kyle Speare for a try in the left corner.
For all their possession, Bideford found it hard to keep hold of the ball in the difficult conditions.
When it came, the equalising try was all about forward power.
The home pack shoved Bude off their own ball at a scrum in the 62nd minute and Dave Evans, the blind-side flanker, crashed over.
John Mock and Andrew Loosemore both went close to scoring for Bideford in the 70th minute but Bude kept them out to record a second successive draw following last week's 21-21 tie with Wellington.
Unbeaten in their last four games, they are now fourth from bottom of the table.
Bideford go into the Christmas break in second place, eight points behind St Austell, who beat Ivybridge 43-17 this afternoon.
