No other vehicles were involved in the collision and police are hoping to speak to the driver to find out how the crash happened.
A driver who passed the scene around 9am on Monday said: "It looked like the car skidded in the snow, rode up the bank, turned over and caught fire.
"The car was sitting in the carriageway on a bend.
"Luckily the fire had melted a lot of the snow on the road, which was deep everywhere else, so traffic could pass."
The vehicle was recovered later that morning.
