FOR the second time in a week, emergency services have been called to the same village street due to a carbon monoxide leak.

Firefighters were called to Butts Close in Witheridge at about 3am this morning after reports of a carbon monoxide alarm sounding.

There was a leak coming from a solid fuel burner and two people were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

Last Thursday, the fire service was called to another property in Butts Close where brother and sister Malcolm Dorrington and Jeanette Clayfield were suffering from the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The gas had come from a leak in a wood burning stove.
