Chivenor helicopter joins early hours search for missing walkers on Brecon Beacons

A search and rescue helicopter from RMB Chivenor was scrambled to help rescue two missing walkers on the Brecon Beacons in the early hours of this morning.

The crew from the North Devon base were called upon at 6am to help join the ongoing search for the two missing walkers, who are both from Malta.

The Sea King helicopter from Chivenor attempted to assist with the search but due to poor weather conditions, the crew were unable to locate the walkers.

The helicopter returned to base at 7.30am.

Brecon Mountain Rescue Team, Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team and a search and rescue dog unit from South Wales conducted searches on the ground and after six hours the walkers were found.

They were found cold and wet but uninjured.
