RESIDENTS of all ages in Chulmleigh have been praised for their community spirit after raising more than £1,300 for the Children's Hospice South West (CHSW).

As part of the annual 'Wear Your Wellies Day' students at Chulmleigh Community College paid £1 to wear snazzy shoes to school on Friday, March 5.

All together they raised more than £230.

Members of the Chulmleigh Friends of the CHSW also organised a coffee morning and soup lunch at the town hall.

Traders in the village put wellies on their counters for donations and bus company Turner's Tours placed a welly on the dashboard of each of their coaches.
