WOOLSERY warmed up for this weekend's Arlington Cup final with a six-goal blast against Buckland Brewer on Tuesday night.

Playing their fourth game in six days, the newly crowned county champions still looked fresh.

A hat-trick from Marc Clark, two goals for Russell Costigan and one by Luis Wilkins rewarded their pass-and-move football.

Torrington kept alive their chances of a top-two finish as Danny Jenkins scored twice in the 2-0 win over Merton at Vicarage Field.

Six goals were shared between Clovelly and Equalizers with Darren Floyde, Andrew Parkhouse and Nico Pfeiffer on target for the Barnstaple side. Clovelly fought back for a point through Marten Stanbury, Stuart Burgess and Mark Austin.

Stanbury was on target too in Saturday's excellent 4-0 win over Merton, inspired by a hat-trick from Tom Forrester.

A first-half free-kick from Tim Durbin gave Anchor the lead against Northam Lions and they defended superbly to hold out for a 1-0 win.

At the weekend, Northam gave their survival hopes a major boost with two determined displays.

They missed out 1-0 against Woolsery when Nick Glover converted a penalty midway through the second half.

But the same resilience was on show against Buckland Brewer when Mark Hallett, Jon Macey, Chris Parkhouse and Ashley Short secured a vital win.

Back on the bottom, Buckland only had a Simon Leach penalty to show from a poor performance.

Joining them in the relegation zone are Sporting Barum after just one win in the last 10.

In midweek, Sporting lost 2-1 to Lynton courtesy of Dave Eastman's header and a cracking late winner from Conor Constable. Ben Walters replied.

Walters scored from the spot against Ilfracombe Town and his brother Adam fired home from a tight angle. But despite an encouraging start, they were undone by late goals as Combe hit four in the second half.

Tom Goldsworthy and Carl Power scored two apiece, Kevin Childs claimed his first of the season and Jamie Prideaux completed a 6-2 success.

The top three teams all dropped points at the weekend.

Previous leaders Park United were stunned 3-1 by Braunton despite taking a second-minute lead with an own goal from Adam Pugsley.

He made amends for that diving header by firing the equaliser, before James O'Sullivan and Danny Goodman capped a fine display from the Colts.

Kevin Buck scuffed a penalty wide for Park who will need a big improvement for this week's Arlington Cup final at the Sports Ground.

The same scoreline was good enough for Equalizers to end Torrington's winning run, Darren Floyde (two) and Matt Hawkins making it 3-0 by half-time with some clinical finishing. Josh White pulled one back for the Greens.

Woolsery were heading for a 1-0 win at High Bickington after Matt Lamont's superb run and shot was finished off by Luis Wilkins. But they had to settle for a point when a huge clearance from goalkeeper Ian Stewart produced a headed own goal from Tom Summers.

High Bick earned a point too against Lynton after Luke Rigler and Tom Sanders twice helped them come from behind. Lynton boss Jim Mirow, missing half a team due to two weddings, was delighted with his team.

Conor Constable scored his fourth in three games and Nick Bowen capped a fine game at right-back, firing his team 2-1 up.

Second-half goals from Darren Smith and Anthony Lane saw Anchor gain valuable breathing space between themselves and the drop-zone, beating Torrington Admirals 2-1. Andy Boundy scrambled the Admirals ahead at a corner.
