CLASSIC scenes from popular Westerns will be re-enacted in a pub in Lee next week. These include the scene where the hero walks into a bar and everyone stops talking; where the lady begs to be loved and where the hero dies a long and drawn out death.

The performance by Bristol theatre company, Action Hero, will be at The Grampus.

"I was so excited when I found out there was a show we could actually bring to the pub itself," said promoter Bryony Shaw. "I'm thrilled to be hosting A Western at the Grampus. It will make the most of what the pub has in abundance: a cosy, friendly atmosphere and heaps of community spirit."

A Western combines the immediacy and intimacy of live performance with the epic emotional experience of the Western, a classic cinematic blockbuster.

"For everyone who ever stood in the playground pretending to beat the bad guys; for everyone who ever thought they looked a bit like Clint Eastwood; for everyone who's ever pointed at someone and said 'ker-pow' – this is your moment," added director of Beaford Arts, Mark Wallace. "A Western comes live to a bar near you."

Action Hero is a collaboration between actors Gemma Paintin and James Stenhouse, who have been performing since 2005. Gemma and James are interested in popular culture and they like to perform in unusual spaces where they involve audiences in their shows.

A Western is at The Grampus Inn, Lee on Wednesday, February 27, 7pm.

Tickets: £6 on 01271 862906. Pot luck meal £5 after the show. Booking essential.
