Cobbles shouldn't halt deliveries
WHAT a load of cobbles was the
Journal
's initial reaction on learning that a resident of a street in Bideford is struggling to persuade her postie to deliver to her.
Sally Bellamy has been told the postman won't walk less than 20 yards along her cobbled street because it could be "dangerous". And yet when other colleagues fill in they happily drop mail to her home.
This is the kind of maddening inconsistency, wrapped in the shroud of 'health and safety' issues, which drives us all potty.
Instead of seeming to defend this situation, Royal Mail should be doing what most right-minded people would expect and telling the postie to get on his bike and deliver to Mrs Bellamy!
