Cooking up a big breakfast to raise funds for hospice
FORGET 'Ladies who Lunch'. Some ladies — and gents — from Kentisbury are cooking up a storm of a breakfast next month as part of North Devon Hospice's sizzling fund raising campaign.
And organisers are urging people across the region to host their own Big Breakfast.

Sizzling sausages, crispy croissants and tasty toast is being served up across North Devon on March 26, 27, 28.
And if it sounds right up your street — it could be!
North Devon Hospice's community fund raiser Gerard Fawcitt said: "The great thing about Big Breakfast is that your own event can be any size you like. It could be in your own kitchen with your family, or in a much larger environment.
"All you do is lay on a breakfast, of any size, and instead of paying for their meal, people make a donation to North Devon Hospice instead.
"This gives you the chance to indulge in a delicious breakfast while raising money for a worthwhile local cause."
Residents in Kentisbury have already signed up and will be holding their Big Breakfast for all comers at the village hall on Sunday, March 28 from 9am to 11.30am. It is a joint venture between the Kentisbury WI and Village Hall Committee.
Vivienne Clout, who runs her own B and B in the village, is used to rustling up a mean breakfast.
She said: "Many of our WI group have visited the hospice before and know how important their care is, so if we can raise funds by cooking breakfast for the village then we are very happy to do so.
Vivienne added that a village hall is the perfect location for such an event.
"Village halls are the centre of the community so they are the ideal place to get people together. What better excuse than a nice breakfast in aid of a local charity?
"We are looking forward to it and hope to see as many people from Kentisbury and the surrounding area as possible."
Gerard Fawcitt added: "The ladies at Kentisbury are a great example of people making the most of the opportunity that Big Breakfast offers. They are bringing together their community in a really fun way as well as helping to raise money for North Devon Hospice.
"If anybody else out there would like to take part in Big Breakfast then we would be delighted to hear from you."
More than 20 groups, companies or individuals have already signed up to take part in the Big Breakfast.
