Daffodil Day at Hartland Abbey
DAZZLING daffs will delight with their sunny yellow faces at Hartland Abbey this Sunday. Daffodil Day is a chance to enjoy coastal walks and a host of golden beauties.
"The recent cold weather has held everything up but with the Met Office promising warmer days to come, we have high hopes of some spectacular displays from the historic daffodils and spring flowers," said Lady Angela Stucley.
"It is a great chance to come and enjoy some lovely walks to the beach through the beautiful valley and blow away some winter cobwebs."
The Walled and the Woodland Gardens will be open and the camellias will make a vibrant display.

"There are plenty of open spaces and paths to explore for dogs, children and their owners to have some good exercise followed by a delicious lunch, hot pasties or a cream tea."
A Treasure Hunt will provide some extra fun for parents and children.
Daffodil Day will herald the start of a packed new season at Hartland Abbey.
"For the first time in 26 years the Tea Room is in new hands and has a bright new look following the retirement of the wonderful St Nectans Church ladies," said Lady Stucley. "Kath Morrison and Jo Wade, both Hartland girls, with great energy and vision, promise some delicious new menus with the same ethos of the past: good value, nourishing, home-made, locally sourced and nutritional food. During the summer they will be able to use freshly-produced vegetables from the Abbey Gardens."
There are plenty of special events in 2013 including Bluebell Days in April, The Hartland Hartbreaker Cross Country Run in aid of the Children's Hospice South West on May 5 and seven Outdoor Theatre events run with the Plough Arts Centre from June to August.
Daffodil Day is on Sunday, March 17. Special reduced entry for adults: £4. Hartland Abbey opens officially for the season on Sunday, March 24. It will be open until October 6, Sunday to Thursday plus Good Friday 11.30am to 5pm. Details: www.hartlandabbey.com or phone 01237 441496.
