Dave Nosworthy to replace Brian Rose at Somerset
Somerset have completed their search for a new director of cricket by appointing the former Highveld Lions coach Dave Nosworthy.
The South African, who turns 45 on Christmas Day, will fill the role vacated by Brian Rose, who stood down in September. Subject to securing a work permit and visa, he will take up his position at Taunton in February.
Somerset's cricket committee have carried out a lengthy search for Rose's replacement – and in Nosworthy they clearly feel they have found the right man. He resigned from his Lions post in June, having previously coached South Africa A, Titans, Canterbury and New Zealand A.
The Johannesburg-born Nosworthy led Canterbury to the New Zealand State Championship title in 2007-08 and the State Shield and Twenty20 competition in 2005-06.

He also took the Lions to two domestic Twenty20 finals and two Champions League appearances and was previously shortlisted for the coaching roles of both India and New Zealand.
"I am absolutely delighted to be coming to Somerset along with my family," Nosworthy said. "The club has a proud tradition, is currently in great shape, and is clearly an exciting place to be."
Vic Marks, chairman of Somerset's cricket committee, is adamant Nosworthy stood out as the outstanding candidate.
"We interviewed candidates from all over the world but there was no doubt that Dave Nosworthy was the outstanding candidate," said Marks. "The director of cricket's role is a very broad one, requiring excellent cricketing knowledge and experience, combined with strong leadership and communication skills. Dave demonstrated all of these."
