Barnstaple Town seem even more certain to finish bottom of the Toolstation Western League premier division after they were beaten 3-0 at home by Wells City this afternoon.

The bottom two teams went into the fixture with Wells 11 points ahead of Barnstaple.

The Somerset side stretched that advantage to 14 points as they inflicted a 12th successive home defeat on Town.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Ilfracombe Town, too, as they went down to a 6-0 defeat at Gillingham Town.

For Ilfracombe, it was their heaviest defeat of the season and worst since they were beaten 5-0 at home by champions Merthyr Town last April.

Bideford are likely to have two new signings on duty for tomorrow's game at Kettering Town in the Evo-Stik League Southern premier division.

Manager Sean Joyce has brought in midfielders Carl Baker and Saul Halpin on a month's loan from Torquay United.

Witheridge lost 2-1 at Bodmin Town, with the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League premier division leaders scoring both goals deep into injury time. Richard Groom's goal on 77 minutes seemed to have given Witheridge an impressive win.

Holsworthy beat Foxhole Stars, bottom of first division (west), 7-0, while Appledore won 4-1 at home to Budleigh Salterton in first division (east).

Northside Atlantic, of the North Devon League, are through to the Buddens Westinsure Devon Intermediate Cup final.

The Bideford side beat Buckland and Milber 2-1 at Victoria Park this afternoon, with all the goals coming in the extra time.
