Gary Hodgson headed Bude in front and they twice hit back through Chris Hill who made it 3-3 in the 85th minute. Townsend had his first penalty saved by Matthew Warburton before Carl Power (two) and an own goal put the hosts 3-2 up.
Ashwater 2 Pilton Academicals 0: Substitutes Charlie Cobbledick and Shaun Hiscock struck in the last 25 minutes.
Hiscock broke the deadlock with a backheeled volley and Cobbledick drilled the second from a cross by Craig Darby.
Lynton and Lynmouth 1 Fremington 4: Kriss Boreham's first of the season and a perfect hat-trick from Mark Sanders – right foot, left foot and header – sent Fremington through. Lynton pulled one back when a long-range shot from Craig Corry caught out Jamie Pow.
Shamwickshire Rovers 2 Northam Lions 0: Two goals from Charlie Harding in the last ten minutes ended Northam's resistance.
The match was marred by a nasty injury for Shammy's Phil Kemp who needed 19 stitches in a cut lip following an accidental clash of heads.
Dean Tucker, the Rovers manager, thanked Northam's players and manager Neil Peake for their help as Kemp waited for the ambulance.
Torrington 2 North Molton 0: Torrington took the lead with an own goal but struggled to break down a tireless North Molton defence.
Rupert Smith saved a penalty from Phil Snow, and Ross McNicholas and Kai Dymond both hit the bar before birthday boy Sam Parish finally sealed the win three minutes from time.
South Molton 0 Braunton 4: Callum Goss, Jason Pontin, Chay West and Dave Mason gave Braunton a comfortable win.
