Delay for Atlantic Array wind farm proposals
The company behind the proposed Atlantic Array offshore wind farm has announced it is delaying submitting its application to the Planning Inspectorate.
RWE npower renewables wants to build the wind farm in the Bristol Channel off the coast of North Devon.

Today it said it has decided to make its submission in spring 2013 as opposed to the original date of December 2012.
The company said this would ensure it could give full consideration to all the feedback generated by their consultation on the proposed wind farm.

Craig Harwood, Atlantic Array Development Manager said: "The latest consultation period closed on August 31 this year, but we received a number of responses from statutory bodies, interested parties and the public after this date.
"In order to give reasonable consideration to all the responses we have received, both during the consultation period in the summer and afterwards, we've decided to submit the planning application during the spring of 2013. This will mean we can consider all of the feedback thoroughly before submitting our application. We would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to join in with our consultation on the Atlantic Array Offshore Wind Farm."
If the wind farm is permitted it will be built in the Bristol Channel, 14 kilometres from Woolacombe, and comprise up to 278 turbines reaching 165 metres in height.

“I'm hoping that the proposed Tidal Lagoon in Swansea Bay, awaiting planning approval from the Welsh Assembly, is putting the frighteners on RWE. The Tidal Lagoons' efficiency destroys any windfarm competition.”

“This misleadingly named wind factory shouldn't just be delayed, it should be stopped in its tracks altogether! The impact on the seascape for miles around this Bristol Channel site would be immense and visible from a number of areas of England and Wales which rely heavily upon tourism. In addition, there would be incalculable ecological damage as this is an area rich in a wide range of birds and sealife. The Government should put a stop to this desecration NOW!”
