Derby form guide against Barnstaple for Ilfracombe clash

TOM BULLEY will have to upset the derby form guide if he is to celebrate his first win as Barnstaple Town manager tonight.

Barnstaple have won only one of their last seven meetings with Ilfracombe Town ahead of this evening's Toolstation Western League clash at Mill Road (7.45pm).

And Combe are unbeaten at the home of their rivals since they were promoted to the premier division after the 2006-07 season.

Barnstaple won 4-0 at Marlborough Park on Good Friday, April 22, 2011, but that was nearly three years after their previous derby victory – 2-1 at Marlborough Park on August 12, 2008.

Current form also counts against Barnstaple as Bulley takes his team into the derby after defeats to Melksham Town (3-0) and Brislington (6-2) since he was appointed last month. They are seven points adrift at the bottom of the table.

But at least they have some match practice behind them.

Thirteenth-placed Ilfracombe's fixture at Wells City on Saturday was the eighth in their last eleven to be postponed.

One of those was the North Devon derby, which would have been played on Boxing Day had Mill Road not been waterlogged.
