A DOG was rescued from a car after an accident on the A377 just after 3am this morning.

The crash, at Bury bends just outside Lapford, was attended by police, ambulance and fire crew from Crediton, with Watch Commander Salter in charge.

All persons were free and clear of the vehicle upon the arrival of the services and were not thought to have sustained life threatening injuries. The car was found balancing in a hedgerow with a six foot drop on one side.

Fire crews secured the vehicle using small tools, rescue lines and a winch.

The dog, who was in a travel cage, was unharmed.

“Both my puppy, Pip, and I are very grateful to the services for rescuing us after we spun on black ice on Friday. We are unharmed but very shaken. The police and firemen were very efficient and caring.”
