The unemployed building worker also had £275 with him when police noticed him acting suspiciously at the football club, Exeter Crown Court was told.

Tuach, aged 31, of Victoria Terrace, Bideford, admitted possessing cannabis with intent to supply, asked three similar offences to be considered, and was jailed for six months by Judge Erik Salomonsen.

He has 36 previous convictions including 14 drug offences and is currently serving a suspended sentence which was activated in November when he failed to turn up to appointments with probation officers.

The Judge told him:"You were selling cannabis in £20 deals using mobile phone text messages. You were at it, and at it in breach of a suspended sentence and you must have been told what the consequences would be.

"I have regard for the fact that you are not a man of good character who has to be sentenced for low level street dealing."

Mr James Taghdissian, prosecuting, said Tuach was seen in Bideford on August 9 last year and police suspected he was selling drugs.

He said:"He was seen to meet with other suspected drug users at the entrance of Bideford Football Club where they appeared to be trying to stay out of public view.

"He was searched as was his home address and a quantity of herbal cannabis was found in the boards behind a kitchen cupboard and in his music system."

He was found with a total of 18.56 grams of the drug and £275 which he claimed to be saved up from his benefits. Texts on his phone showed evidence of at least three further cannabis deals.

Miss Emily Pitts, defending, said Tuach has succeeded in weaning himself off drugs since August and wants to do a college course in construction on his release from jail so he can resume his work as a builder and stay out of trouble.
