North Devon MP Nick Harvey is joining the fight to stop courts being closed in Barnstaple.

In a statement today the Liberal Democrat armed forces minister said: "It's extremely important that justice is seen to be done locally.  Any reduction in services in Barnstaple will see people being forced to go to Exeter for cases, which could put people off, or prevent them from accessing services due to transport costs.

"I am lobbying against any reduction of service in Barnstaple and at the same time encouraging a longer consultation so that affected parties have adequate time to make the case for these hearings to remain in Barnstaple."
