Eggesford grows its own
WHETHER it's tasty tomatoes, crunchy carrots or super fresh spuds, nothing can beat a plate of homegrown veg. If you fancy growing your own, you might want to pop along to Grow Your Own Veg Day at Eggesford Gardens on Sunday (February 19, 11am to 4pm).
Although many crops are pretty easy to grow, it can be a little daunting if you have never grown vegetables before. Here you will be able to get advice on selecting the best crops for your garden and your taste buds. Growing tips will be available from local horticultural expert David Loder. There will also be fun and games and competitions for the family.

ADVICE: Alison Stone and Derrick Dyer of Eggesford Garden and Country Centre.
"Vegetable growing is very rewarding and with a wide range of attractive planters designed specifically for growing edible crops now available, even the smallest back gardens can be turned into productive space," said Eggesford director Derrick Dyer. "Growing vegetables is a great family pastime and kids really enjoy both the growing and the eating part of the process."
