Exhibition captures majesty of Exmoor

A renowned graphic artist, who likes to capture "the majesty of Exmoor", has chosen to go solo on her latest project.

Claire Savill, best known for her Exmoor landscapes and its wildlife, will host her own art exhibition next month in Dulverton.

The display will include work for recent community projects commissioned by Dulverton Exmoor Horn, Dulverton Model Railway and Dulverton Players.

It will also feature landscapes of the moorland and portraits in watercolour, oil and acrylic.

Ms Savill said: "My inspiration comes from everyday rural and urban life which is why the majesty of Exmoor and its wildlife features so strongly."

Her portfolio also includes contemporary impressionist work as a contrast to more traditional work.

Exmoor Art Gallery was set up by the artist to promote the a wealth of talent on Exmoor. She aims to use oils, acrylics and watercolours to "bring her creations to life".

"Watercolour is undoubt-edly the most delicate as it brings subtle light and life to a landscape" Ms Savill said, "whereas, oils add lustre and depth, with acrylics introducing eye-catching metallic paints and visual texture."

She will host the exhibition at the Guildhall Heritage Centre, on Fore Street, from March 31 to April 6.
