Exmouth go second with win at Weston
Exmouth turned in easily their best performance of the season to win 42-8 at Weston-super-Mare and snatch second place for themselves in National Three South West.
The Cockles were third in the table going into the game, but only a point behind their seaside counterparts.
By half time Weston were 27-3 down and it did not need the fortune teller on the end of the pier to say which way the game was going.
Exmouth have won by wider margins this season – Oxford Harlequins, Chippenham and Amersham all spring to mind – but none of them as high up the table as Weston.

Chris Wright, Exmouth's director of rugby, said victory was down to consistency of performance. "When we beat Brixham in the cup last week we played with full intensity for 20 minutes, then backed off a bit thinking it was job done," he said.
"The difference against Weston was we played with that same intensity for virtually all of the 80 minutes.
"It wasn't that we did anything any different, just that we did what we do for longer."
Exmouth's first-half try scorers were Dave Kimberley, Matt Ryan (two) and Jack Downie. After the break there were scores for Dave Bargent and Andrew Powell, who also notched three conversions and two penalties to take his points tally for the season to 163.
Newton Abbot stay fourth in the table despite slipping up 30-19 at lowly Avonmouth. Having led 12-8 and 19-13 either side of half time it was a disappointing result for the All Whites.
Director of rugby Roy Henderson said there could be no excuses. "We played poorly, as simple as that," he said.
Josh Smith, Kev Dennis and Lloyd Radford were Newton's try scorers.
Brixham are only three points behind Newton after their 62-22 win over bottom side Maidenhead. Most coaches would be happy to score ten tries, but Brixham's Ian Morgan was lukewarm about his side's performance.
"Because we were 30 points up at half time we thought it was going to be easy and the game plan got torn up," said Morgan. "We lost our structure, which might explain why the side with the worst offence scored four tries against us."
Jarryd Harris bagged four tries for Brixham and there were two for Sean Onslow.
Barnstaple ran out of puff in the second half against Malvern, but had already done enough to set up a 36-19 win.
Mike Pope bagged a try hat-trick and there were two tries each for Sam Richardson, Ben Turner and Aaron Struminski in Taunton's 78-0 win over Barking in National Two South.
