RICHARD Felix from TV's Most Haunted will be at the Devil's Stone Inn in Shebbear on Saturday, February 6 to investigate some ghostly goings on.

According to Daniel Mason from Ghosthuntingbreaks this fascinating building is known to date back to the 15th century if not earlier. Built as a Poor House it then became a Temperance House, then a fishing pub and subsequently a pub and restaurant as it is today.

It's said to get its name from a nearby Devil Stone, a huge rock that as myth has it, dropped out of the devil's pocket as he fell from heaven to hell.

"There has been so many unexplained things, sightings and apparitions seen and experienced over many years in this pub that I just had to investigate it and invite my friend along, paranormal historian Richard Felix, to witness the investigation for himself," said Daniel.

According to Daniel the stories are many and include an elderly coachman seen in the restaurant and bar area, a grumpy old man seen in a bedroom upstairs and a little girl that likes to play hide and seek. He claims taps have been known to turn on by themselves and strange noises of running footsteps have been heard along the hallways at night time.

The investigation will consist of seances, vigils, table tipping interaction and glass divination. The night will also include a talk by Richard Felix about his own past experiences.

Food is included in the price of £44 per person. There is also overnight accommodation for a limited few with breakfast (not included in the price). To book phone Daniel Mason on 0781 655 5570 or phone The Devil Stone on 01409 281210.

THE Hunters Inn at Heddon's Mouth has hit on a novel way to chase away the winter blues. It's holding a Caribbean Beach Party called Life's A Beach in a marquee on its patio — complete with heat and sand.

The event takes place this weekend: Saturday, January 30, 8pm to 12pm or Sunday, January 31 from noon to 4pm (the latter being a more family orientated event).

The fun starts on Saturday with Caribbean cocktails and Rum Punch. There will be a prize for the best fancy dress, whether that's a Bob Marley look-alike or a stunning tropical beauty. There's a free drink for anyone in fancy dress with entertainment provided by the Dusk2Dawn Disco with plenty of Reggae Beats and Summer Sounds.

The party continues on Sunday when it will be the children's turn to dress up with a prize for the best pirate.

There will be live music from Katie Kerslake and Kate Beardshall. You can try your skills at limbo dancing while children will enjoy a sandcastle competition. There will be a barbecue on both days.

Other festival events coming up at the Hunters Inn this year include the launch of a new Blues and Jazz festival on April 17 and 18; the Here Comes Summer Festival on June 20; and the Heddon Valley Music Beerfest from September 10 to 12. Entry for all events is free. Entertainers are being sought to play at these events.
