A FIRE crew from Hartland was forced to break into an 82-year-old woman's home yesterday after she fell over and was unable to get back up.

Firefighters arrived at the house at Northgate in Hartland at about 6am after receiving a call from a neighbour.

A paramedic crew from the South Western Ambulance Service used a 4x4 vehicle to take the woman to North Devon District Hospital.
