Philippa Shone who works for Andy's Cabs in Combe Martin used to drive Mrs Oxley to various events and remembers her fondly.
She said: "She was absolutely brilliant. We saw her quite a bit. She had such a sad life but she was always so happy.
"I used to pick her up from bingo and she would still have her make-up on. She always made the effort. She was a lovely person and such a character."
Her funeral service is being held at 4pm today in Combe Martin Parish Church.
