THE BIRDS is my garden are a fussy lot.

They are happy to take seed from the little platform that sits partway down the main feeder stalk but steadfastly ignore any of the plastic enclosed feeders with side dispensers.

So I am left with no option but to fill the wire mesh feeders that are designed to hold peanuts.

And, yes, I avoid all nuts in any feeder as this is a cue for Mr and Mrs Grey Squirrel and their hordes of kittens to gatecrash the banquet.

And while on the subject of birds, the greenfinches are still conspicuous by their absence following the devastating virus that seems to have decimated their flocks. What are the experiences of readers?
