Green Lanes charity fundraisers plan Land's End to John O'Groat's cycle for Children's Hospice South West

FUNDRAISERS from Green Lanes shopping centre, Barclays Bank, Petroc, Children's Hospice South West and Bideford Football Club are riding from Land's End to John o' Groats next month, but won't leave Barnstaple.

The cyclists will be covering the miles on exercise bikes in the middle of Green Lanes over three days, with all money raised going to Children's Hospice South West.

The fundraising challenge is part of Green Lanes' 21st birthday celebrations, with the shopping centre aiming to raise £21,000 for charity.

Jan Dayman, from Green Lanes, said the fundraising work had already started.

"We raised £1,500 over Christmas," she said.

"I don't know how much we'll raise with this, but a lot of people come through the centre so hopefully we can appeal to our shoppers."

As well as being able to donate, shoppers will be able to do their bit for charity by hopping on the bikes themselves.

"I'm going to be doing about ten minutes of cycling," joked Jan. "We'll rope in our security staff too.

"It would be great to see shoppers joining in too."

Definitely joining in will be Nadine Sampson, from Barclays, which is matching any funds raised by the cycle.

"There will be ten of us," said Nadine. "There was no shortage of volunteers."
