A chief forecaster at the Exeter-based agency said: “An active frontal system is expected to bring a spell of heavy rain to parts of both southwest England and Wales during Friday.
“The intensity of the rain is uncertain, but it seems likely that totals of around 15-25mm will occur quite widely, with some upland areas, such as the moors of southwest England, perhaps having in excess of 50mm.
“Accompanying the rain will be strong winds and there is a potential for the wind to gust over 50mph quite widely, with a low risk of gusts over 70mph.”
