Helpful staff at Doves' centre
I AM very sorry to hear that Doves' Christian Bookshop closed its doors on Christmas Eve.
As a customer of Doves I valued the opportunity to purchase books, cards and gifts with a Christian theme.
The provision of a coffee bar and an opportunity to talk was an excellent facility.
In our particular group of linked churches, representing all denominations, we aim to present the Year Six youngsters at our primary school with Bibles when they leave that sector of their education.
However, I was disappointed to read in the
Journal
(December 31, 2008) a statement from Mr Milton that he considered his staff had not made the effort to embrace his vision. From my experience the staff were most helpful.
Visions, especially those which concern living the Christian life, should be linked with a true empathy for one's staff.
As a prospective MP, perhaps Mr Milton could think on this for 2009? I do wish Celia Withers every success in retaining a Christian bookshop in Barnstaple.
ELIZABETH ANDREW,
Chulmleigh.
