Hoax loft insulation traders target Torrington
A number of people in Torrington have reported being door knocked by tradesmen who claim they need to assess the loft insulation claiming.
Bogus callers from the 'Real Green Deal' have been claiming in they need to do an assessment of their cavity /loft insulation and pressurise the occupied by telling them Torridge District Council (TDC) will increase their council tax if the house was not energy efficient.

It appears they have so far targeted the area of Taddiport.
The callers have claimed they are working on behalf of the local authority but TDC would like to say categorically this is not the case.

TDC has confirmed no one has been asked to inspect local residents' cavity or loft insulation on behalf of the council, and it is not true to say that the rate of council tax payable is calculated using energy efficiency measures.
If any local residents open their door to a caller pertaining to be from the 'Real Green Deal', or any other insulation/ energy efficiency company, it is essential to insist on seeing bona fide credentials.
